There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Minor issue, just be aware.
Initially we emptied the bucket whenever we were there working. We attempted to use the pump function, but couldn't get the pump to work. I then connected a water hose that allowed the dehumidifier to drain continuously into the shower. While just running until the bucket was full made a difference, running continuously is not only keeping the basement dry, it has also helped reduce the humidity in the rest of the house. The manual had gotten lost moving stuff around during the renovation. So a few days ago, I consulted the Q&A section here to find out how to get the pump working-thank you to the folks that had the same question as I, and a bigger thank you to those who answered. It was very simple: press and hold "pump" for 3 seconds and once reservoir is 3/4 full, the pump will turn on. I tested this yesterday by filling the reservoir with water, then activating the pump. The water is now draining into the laundry sink. I have the drain hose wrapped around the same brace that holds the drain hose from the washer.
Based on the other reviews, I am concerned that running the pump will significantly shorten the unit's lifespan, but will just have to deal with that when it happens. This will be a rental property and my client wants to encourage continuous use of the dehumidifier, by making it as simple as possible.
Pros
- the cost; it was sold open/box like new and came well-packaged, but not in original box and looked brand new with all parts included and not a scratch. It had never seen any action
- washable filter that really caught a lot of dust from the drywall and other renovation work. It also doesn't take any time to dry, if you wipe it with a dry cloth after you wash/rinse it you can reinsert and keep on keeping the air drier.
- noise; while not quiet, it is a lot less noisy than the GE dehumidifier I bought for our house 8 years ago; when the pump turns on, it is only slightly louder. It is about the same as a 50 dB dishwasher: you can still have a conversation at a normal talking level or hear yourself think, especially when fan is on the lowest setting
- it works; after running it at the lowest setting continuously a few months, it is now set at 50, and it is dry enough to where it doesn't run as much
- big help along with ceiling fans to where we have not had to turn on the window AC units. This saves a lot of money during the summer months and will also make the winters more comfortable
- most of all it will keep the basement livable and free from mold
Cons
- none at the moment
Some folks here have this unit in rooms they live/sleep in. I would not recommend that as it could be perceived as noisy and it is designed for basements. I don't know of anything with a compressor and this size that runs 'noiseless' . Yes, there is heat involved: to remove the moisture from the air, it had to be cooled and the heat removed has to go somewhere. I find it great for helping to dry my laundry. That said, the tower fan in my bedroom is about the same noise level on the lowest setting. Yes, if you have no access to a drain you will just have to empty the reservoir...maybe often...a pain sure, but just think: all that water is no longer in the air around you. It also makes great water for cleaning and watering plants as it is very soft - no minerals in it.
This dehumidifier I find runs more often to keep the humidity down but not all the time so hopefully this is more energy efficient.
My only criticism is that I think the fan is a bit loud so I keep it at the lowest speed.

It was pretty simple to assemble (automatically pours directly into the floor drain).
This dehumidifier runs quietly in the background (un-noticed, effeciently & effectively removing air moisture, from our basement).
Seems to be its Achilles heel.
